  • 10amBook a session on the Trick-or-Treat Trail at Marrickville Metro. Your $5 ticket comes back as a Boost Juice voucher.
  • MiddayHome for a nap.
  • 4.30pmHalloween Street Party at NNC, Newtown. Alcohol-free, with a free BBQ so dinner's sorted. Bring your furry friend for the pet costume contest.
  • Warm-upOn Wednesday 28 October, make a spooky puppet sidekick at Get Crafty (Marrickville Metro, 10.30 or 11.30am).

  • 8pmHard rock at Halloween Havoc, The Duke of Enmore. Free.
  • About 10pmWalk 10 minutes to Hackers Halloween at Pleasure Club, Newtown for techno until 4am. Also free.
  • InsteadMidnight Mausoleum at The Marly (Marlborough Hotel, Newtown): entry is free before 11pm on Friday and Saturday night, and drinks are $7 from 9 to 11pm. DJs across four rooms.

Good to know on the night

  • Sunset is about 7.21pm on Saturday 31 October. Bring a torch if the kids are out after dark.
  • Majors Bay Road, Concord is closed between Gallipoli Street and Brewer Street for the festival (2 to 7pm), and nearby parking is limited. There is bike parking, accessible toilets near Brewer and Gallipoli streets, and a sensory quiet space with bean bags and headphones.
  • Check trackwork before you go. Transport for NSW's future trackwork calendar lists works on the weekend of 31 October and 1 November, including buses replacing trains between Olympic Park and Ashfield or Central on the Sunday morning (T2 Inner West line) and track maintenance at North Strathfield from 31 October to 2 November. Times can change late, so check transportnsw.info/alerts before you travel.
  • Enmore Road will be busy: TISM plays the Enmore Theatre at 8pm the same night.
  • Getting there by train:
    • Rhodes station: Rhodes Waterside
    • Summer Hill station: Summer Hill Public School
    • Sydenham station: Kiss My Brass (BestieFest)
    • Newtown station: the NNC street party, Stonewall, The Marly and Pleasure Club
    • Central, then a short walk: Broadway and the Lansdowne Hotel
